Four charities that have a focus on assisting youth will receive proceeds raised during the 2nd Annual Spirit of Texas Festival. This family friendly event is scheduled for March 23-25 at College Station’s Wolf Pen Creek Amphitheater. Admission is free.
“Our festival gives families the opportunity to explore some of the best that Texas has to offer, all in one place. In addition, this event offers something for everyone in the family – the shopper, the foodie, the music lover, the budding performer,” said Cynthia Caronna, the festival’s executive director. “Because our festival focuses on creating a family friendly environment, we wanted to make sure that the proceeds we raise support the next generation.”
The four charities are:
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Brazos Valley – This nonprofit provides children with a safe learning space, ongoing relationships with caring adult professionals, and life-enhancing programs and experiences. These clubs offer programs in a number of core areas, including: character and leadership, education and career, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation, and specialized initiatives.
Von’s Vision – Founded by Texas A&M’s legendary football player Von Miller, this charity focuses on assisting low-income elementary students who need some level of vision correction.
K-9s4Kids – This initiative, which is part of the K9s4COPS nonprofit, provides school districts and college campus police with trained K9s. These dogs are able to search, apprehend, and detect narcotics, explosives, and weapons on command.
Mobility Worldwide – This organization provides mobility carts to disabled individuals who live primarily in rural areas in developing countries. These carts help the individual attend school, find employment, go to church and social gatherings, and travel to the doctor.
